LEWIS SHOEMAKER – SPECIAL METALS

 

 

BIO:  Lew Shoemaker received his bachelor of science degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1974. Since then he has been employed by Huntington Alloys / Special Metals Corporation (formerly Inco Alloys International) working in product development, technical services and marketing. Lew is currently Director of Application Engineering and Business Development. His areas of expertise include nickel alloy welding, fabrication, corrosion and application engineering. Lew has been active in the selection and fabrication of corrosion-resistant alloys for flue gas desulfurization (FGD) service since the 1980's and has been involved with numerous FGD projects.

 

 

GARY R. HALL - SAUEREISEN

 

 

BIO: Gary Hall is the former Manager of Organic Technology for Sauereisen, Inc., a leading manufacturer of organic coatings and linings as well as ceramic adhesives and refractories.  Mr. Hall had been employed at Sauereisen for more than 40 years before his retirement, he is now a consultant.  A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Mr. Hall started in the laboratory, became Chief Chemist and then transferred to Sales.  During his tenure in Sales, Hall was responsible for the Eastern half of the United States and all of the Caribbean, Central and South America.  Gary returned to Research and Development in 1997; he then had Research and Development responsibility for all organic products manufactured by Sauereisen, accounting for 70% of the company’s total sales.  Mr. Hall also had additional responsibilities at Sauereisen for Environmental, Health and Safety management. Hall is a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, National Association of Corrosion Engineers, and various ASTM committees. 

 

ABSTRACT: “Material Considerations for Maintaining FGD Infrastructure”

This presentation reviews the environmental considerations of fossil fuel generation and provides an in depth overview of the materials used to increase life expectancy.  Corrosion resistant organic and inorganic technologies are covered with field applications and “real world” solutions throughout.
