CHARLES ALACK – SEMI-BULK SYSTEMS

BIO: Mr. Alack is a co-founder of the Company and has been with the Company for 37 years. He has a BS in Mechanical engineering from LSU and a minor in Business Administration. Prior to starting the Company, he was employed by Monsanto Company for 11 years where he worked in Manufacturing, Central Engineering, Specialty Chemical Sales, Commercial Development and Product Marketing. Mr. Alack has a number of patents and broad experience in powder handling and processing, and powder/liquid processing for both the food and the chemical industries. He is responsible for the development of the Air-Pallet® Container, The Air-Cone® Hopper, and the application of the Vacucam® Ejector Mixer Technology in many industries and process applications. Mr. Alack is a registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana and Missouri.
ABSTRACT: Dry Sorbent Handling and Injection into Scrubber and/or direct In-Furnace Hg and SO2 removal

Systems, Inc. will review options for applying the VACUCAM® Ejector Mixer
processes for efficient slurry production of lime or limestone powders for
slurry feed to scrubbers. The technology also offers processes to accommodate
other dry chemicals required for scrubber treatment.
Processes for handling dry sorbent and chemical injection for removal of Hg and SO2 from direct in-furnace treatment systems will also be introduced.
BOBBY I.T. CHIN – CB&I

BIO: Former Assist Director of the Energy Research Center at Western Kentucky University, and currently employed with the CB&I Group as a Client Program Manager. He has extensive experiences in coal-fired combustion system emission control, at more than 200 coal-fired units performing evaluations for enhanced acid gas scrubbing particulate matters and metal emissions control.

There are critical reasons to enhance mercury oxidization using CB&I's technology because controlling mercury (Hg) emission from the coal combustion process is best achieved through a two-stage process. The first stage is to promote the mercury oxidization at the combustion chamber outlet. The second stage is to provide a means of absorbent to capture the oxidized mercury. BIO: B.S. degree in Thermal and Environmental Engineering from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University. Authored several papers and presentation on topics including Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), wet and dry flue gas desulphurization, prediction and control of SO3 emissions, Computational Fluid Dynamics of combustion and particle induced erosion. Currently Vice President of Environmental Products and Technology for Babcock Power Environmental.
ABSTRACT: Over the past several decades, increased environmental limits on emissions from fossil fuel fired power stations have resulted in a variety of flue gas cleaning applications. One of the major chemical processes in these applications is the reaction of acid gases in the flue gas with a reagent to neutralize the acid gas. While the application of gas-gas static mixers in the design of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) for DeNOx is well proven, several areas of recent work with powder-gas mixing such as Dry Sorbent Injection (DSI) for SO2/SO3/HCl control and Powder Activated Carbon (PAC) for mercury control are the focus of this presentation. This presentation will provide both a scientific review of mixing and flow modeling principles and full scale DSI results obtained from recent projects.

BIO: Keith Day is the Business Development Manager for Nol-Tec Systems Sorb-N-Ject Technology. He has over 30 years of experience working within or for the Utility Sector. The last ten years of his career has focused on DSI and ACI technologies for air pollution control.

JIM GILMOUR - SIEMENS
BIO: Mr. Gilmour has been with Siemens Environmental Systems & Services for 6 years. He has responsibility for the Company’s powdered activated carbon and sorbent injection systems for mercury and acid gas control. He supports the integration of these systems with fabric filter, wet and dry FGD, and ESP systems. In this role, Mr. Gilmour is responsible for the design and operation of the injection systems and directs the product development.
Mr. Gilmour’s previous experience includes 19 years in engineering, research and product management with Calgon Carbon Corp. His work with Calgon included new product development, research in activated carbon production and market development.
Previous to Calgon, Mr. Gilmour worked as a process engineer for Air Products and Chemicals. His work there included design of cryogenic air separation plants and implementation of computer process control for air separation and hydrogen plants.
ABSTRACT: Jim Gilmour, Siemens Environmental Systems & Services Product Manager for sorbent injection systems, will discuss some of the critical variables affecting the performance of sorbents for control of acid gases and mercury emissions from coal fired boilers to achieve compliance with MATS regulations. Jim will also discuss selection of sorbents and review some of the important system requirements.
