CHARLES B. BARRANGER CONSULTANT FOR EPSCO
BIO: Charles Barranger recently retired from Alstom after over 43 years of experience in the Air Pollution Control Field. He held positions as an Air Pollution Control Equipment Designer, Project Engineer, Application Engineer, Project Manager, Proposal Manager, Fabric Filter Project Manager, Manager of Application Engineering and other special assignments at ALSTOM Environmental System Division. He implemented processes for Fabric Filter sizing, operation, trouble shooting, performances, plus R&D review and input. For many years, was assigned as the ALSTOM Fabric Filter representative at ICAC and EPRI. The major markets controlled were coal-fired boilers, iron & steel, cement, and waste-to-energy. Special assignments to upgrade or develop new APC Companies were completed in the Republic of South Africa, and Brazil.
ABSTRACT: We plan to discuss Filter Media, but plan to focus on the Fabric Filter design, operation, and quality that can impact overall particulate emissions at the Fabric Filter discharge.

BIO:
Education – Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Vanderbilt University 1992
Career – Worked with the R&D division of Reynolds Metals Company where I was involved in cell efficiency improvements and cell emission monitoring. I joined Solutia in 1997 as a Sr. Research Chemist in the acrylic fiber division. Later in my career at Solutia, I was named Director of Technical Services for the acrylic fibers division. In 2005, I joined SIGroup in Freeport, TX as Manager of Quality Assurance for the Alkylphenol production unit. In July 2008, I joined TFA as Technical Sales Engineer/Applications Manager for PTFE fibers and now serve as Technical and Applications Manager.
ABSTRACT: Toray offers a broad portfolio of fibers for filtration applications. These fibers offer excellent chemical and thermal resistance. Currently, Toray PPS TORCON® is the most suitable fiber to meet most of the filtration needs of coal fired boilers. However, when higher temperatures or more chemical resistance is needed, we offer our Tefaire® and Teflon® products to meet these needs.
TOM ANDERSON – MIDWESCO
BIO: Tom Anderson has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with 20 years of experience in running a battery plant. Tom was successful in implementing and maintaining the first BACT program for the battery industry. Tom also sat on the board to write the EPA legislation on Lead in 1974. Tom's experience with the battery and lead industry led into a career path of baghouse and dust collection where he owned his own business. Midwesco purchased his business in 1998 and currently utilizes Tom's experience in pleated and filter bag medias to expand its market share.
JOHN DARROW – W. L. GORE & ASSOCIATES
BIO: John has been involved in air pollution control for more than 35 years. Currently he is the Energy Market Specialist for W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc (Elkton, MD). He joined Gore in 1982. Prior to Gore, John worked for Sargent & Lundy, Buell Envirotech, Wheelabrator-Frye and Niro Atomizer.
