FIP for San Juan Proposes SCR by 2013
A Federal Implementation Plan has been proposed under the Clean Air Act for Public Service Co. of NM’s 1,800 MW coal-fired San Juan Generating Station. The plant’s operators will be required to install BACT that is expected to reduce emissions of NOx by approximately 83 percent. This could be achieved through installation of SCR or similar technology on all four coal-fired generating units at the power plant. EPA proposes that the plant have three years to add the pollution controls.
