FIP for San Juan Proposes SCR by 2013

A Federal Implementation Plan has been proposed under the Clean Air Act for Public Service Co. of NM’s 1,800 MW coal-fired San Juan Generating Station. The plant’s operators will be required to install BACT that is expected to reduce emissions of NO_x by approximately 83 percent. This could be achieved through installation of SCR or similar technology on all four coal-fired generating units at the power plant. EPA proposes that the plant have three years to add the pollution controls.
