Tampa Electric to Retrofit SCR at Big Bend

Tampa Electric Co. will spend $300 million to install SCR equipment that will cut NO_x emissions at the Big Bend Power Station by about 80 percent from 1998 levels by 2010. Work will proceed in stages, with the first generating unit to be outfitted by June 1, 2007, and the last unit to be done by May 2010.
