Lee to be Retrofit with LNBs

Duke will be installing low NOx burners at Lee by 2006 as part of a voluntary agreement with the South Carolina Dept. of Health & Environmental Control. Ellen Ruff, Group Vice President of Power Policy and Planning at Duke Energy, said “The new controls are expected to cost about $7.2 million and follow an earlier investment of $6.2 million in 2001 to reduce NOx at the plant. When the new projects are completed by mid-2006, we will have reduced NOx emissions at Lee Steam station by 60 percent since 1997.”
