Tri-Mer NOx Removal
Tri-Mer Corp supplied Tri-NOx Multi-Chem technology to an international manufacturer of a tablet OTC analgesic who was looking to reduce NOx emissions. The client’s process produced virtually 100 percent nitrogen oxide (NO) in its exhaust gases and gas flows were not massive. Because the client preferred not to add to its chemical inventory, Tri-Mer suggested using air oxidation of NO, followed by removal of NO2 by a scrubber.
Tri-NOx Multi-Chem technology usually employs a proprietary oxidizing compound plus dilute sulfuric acid to oxidize NO to NO2. Substituting air oxidation saved the OTC analgesic company in excess of $100,000 annually in chemical costs and avoided hazardous chemical hassles.
