New SO₂ and NO_x Regs in New York

Lots of FGD systems will be required over the next five years in New York as a result of regulations passed by State legislators in March. SO₂ emission allowances will be halved from the present amount, resulting in reductions of 130,000 tpy. NO_x emissions will be reduced by 20,000 tpy above that required in the NO_x SIP call. Governor George Pataki claimed that New York now has the toughest SO₂ limits in the nation.
