EEC Has Service Contract with Baltimore G&E

Environmental Elements Corp. has completed a series of three service contracts totaling in excess of $300,000 from Baltimore Gas and Electric Co (B&GE) for the refurbishment of pollution control equipment at two coal-fired generating stations in Maryland. EEC's new Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center completed the work over the past four months.

EEC provided maintenance work on two fabric filter baghouses at CP Crane. The scope of the fabric filter work consisted mainly of general maintenance work with an emphasis on sealing and patching critical areas in the reverse air ductwork. The work at CP Crane was presented to EEC in three phases. Phase one consisted of an inspection, phase two consisted of repairs on Unit 1, and phase three consisted of repairs on Unit 2. Each succeeding phase was contingent on the success of the previous phase. Phase one was completed in June 1998, phase two in December 1998, and phase three in early February 1999. Also during the November 1998 to February 1999 time frame, EEC installed sonic horns on Crane's four economizer hoppers. Repair work was also done on the precipitator at H.A. Wagner Station.

L. H. Verdery says the contract from B&GE re-establishes EEC's relationship with B&GE who EEC views as a significant customer going forward. In addition the subsequent phases of the work demonstrated the responsiveness, work quality and performance of EEC's personnel.

EEC is expanding its Aftermarket Services division to include five Regional Maintenance Centers across the United States. The three service centers now in operation include the Mid-South Center, which services customers in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Oklahoma; the Mid-Atlantic Center, which covers the Carolinas and the states north along the coast to Maine; and the Southeastern Center, which covers Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky. Two additional Maintenance Centers are currently in the planning stage and are projected to open in late 1999.
