Sales of Water and Wastewater Treatment Chemicals Expected to Reach $24.7 Billion in 2012

3 June, 2008 - The McIlvaine Company releases 2012 market forecasts for water and wastewater treatment chemicals

Northfield, Illinois (The McIlvaine Company) – The McIlvaine Company is forecasting that water and wastewater chemical sales, worldwide, will reach $24.7 billion (USD) in 2012.  Based on forecasted 2008 revenues of $20.5 billion, world sales are expected to grow by an average of 5 percent annually into the next decade.

In its online Waste and Wastewater Treatment Chemicals: World Markets report, the McIlvaine Company figures point to Asia as the continent that will see the greatest growth potential.  From 2008 to 2012, water and wastewater treatment chemicals in Asia are expected to increase by about 29 percent.  For the same time period, McIlvaine forecasts that sales in the U.S. and Europe by will grow by 12 percent and 17 percent, respectively.

“Over the next several years, China will be building a number of new water and wastewater treatment facilities,” states company president, Bob McIlvaine.  “As China and other Asian countries undergo continued industrialization and urbanization, the need for water treatment chemicals is growing at a much faster pace than the rest of the world.”
