Overheating Problem at TOXECON Unit Being Investigated

We Energies reported that they experienced overheating of a mixture of powdered activated carbon and PRB ash in the hoppers of their new TOXECON™ baghouse at the Presque Isle Power Plant in Marquette, MI.  In this configuration activated carbon is injected into a pulse-jet baghouse, which is located downstream of the existing hot-side electrostatic precipitators. Burning embers were found in the hoppers. An investigation is ongoing to determine the design and operational issue that contributed to this incident.
