Australian Power Plant to Install Baghouse
Delta Electricity has signed a $52-million contract to clean up emissions at its Vales Point power station in southern Lake Macquarie, between the New South Wales central cost and Newcastle, Australia.
The move comes after years of lobbying by local residents about the impact of visible plumes from the coal-fired power station.
Energy Minister Joe Tripodi was at Vales Point recently to announce the new contract, which he says will allow the power station to operate at maximum capacity.
"The new air emissions control plant will use state-of-the-art fabric filter technology which will improve air quality by reducing visible emissions," he said.
"This $52-million upgrade will allow Vales Point power station at maximum capacity, secures the long-term future of the station, but at the same time improves the quality of life for local residents."
