Flat Panel Display Forecast

Forecasts of cleanroom hardware and consumables for the flat panel display industry are based on an iterative process. Models using space and numbers of employees are matched with aggregate sales of suppliers. Models are then modified to obtain agreement. Future projections are made based on these modified models.

The total cleanroom space in use in the flat panel display industry worldwide can be segmented by class. The distribution of this space is as follows:

Class 1-10:       15%

Class 100:        15%

Class 1000:      25%

Class 10,000:   15%

Class 100,000: 30%

Forecasts of total space in use segmented by country and year through 2008 are displayed in the Industry Forecast. This provides a forecast for each country and for the major regions of the world. Any of these total space forecasts can be used to determine the quantity of space for a specific class. For example to convert total space in any country or region to Class 1-10 space, multiply the total by 15 percent. Use the percentages of space by class listed above to obtain the space for that class.

Forecasts of additional space in use segmented by country and year through 2008 are displayed in the Industry Forecast. Space additions in each country and each region are provided. The space additions in any specific class can be calculated using the percentages of space by class shown above.

Room revenues are based on the additional space. The value/ft2 is as follows:

Class 1-10:       $600

Class 100:        $400

Class 1000:      $200

Class 10,000:   $125

Class 100,000:  $ 85

Room revenues for all classes are calculated from the percentage of space for each class. The average room revenue for total space is $244.25 ft2.

Forecasts of room revenues segmented by country and year through 2008 are displayed in the Industry Forecast. The revenues for any specific class can be calculated based on the following percentages.

Class 10,000:     7.68%

Class 100,000: 10.44%

The number of employees is based on the model of 40 ft2/employee.

Forecasts for number of employees in the flat panel display industry working in cleanrooms segmented by country and year through 2008 are displayed in the Industry Forecast. The employees working in any specific class of cleanroom are calculated using the same percentages as used in the total space and space additions calculations described above.

The revenues for consumables and disposables are based on the per employee cost using the following specific costs.

Class 1-10:       $7,500

Class 100:        $6,470
