Agitators and Oxidation Updates Provided in Hot Topic Hour
Ekato and SPX provided the latest on side entry and top entry agitators. Jerry Baresich of Ekato cited the advantages of the air lance system over the sparge grid. The Ekato Wingjet O2 incorporates a rotating O2 sparger which is part of the agitator. One picture displayed a side entry agitator in Qianqing China that looked in mint condition after 9,000 hours of operation.
Duplex stainless steel is used where chloride content is less than 50,000 ppm. Above this level alloy C 276 or similar corrosion resistant alloys are required. The problem is that these high nickel alloys do not have the wear resistance of the duplex stainless.
Mike Preston of SPX provided coverage of top entry mixers for the range of power plant air quality applications. Use of composites has improved both efficiency and life cycle costs. The tank geometry, baffling and other parameters are critical to mixing success. SPX helps customers with advice to ensure that the desired results are achieved.
