Continuing Analyses of CEMS for Coal-Fired Power Plants and Gas Turbines

In the 44I Power Plant Air Quality Decisions  and Gas Turbine and Combined Cycle Decisions are continually reporting on developments in pollutant measurement.  In the gas turbine emissions webinar last week Breen discussed measurement of SO3 in gas turbine HRSG and the fact that even though sulfur levels in the fuel are very low, there is an accumulation of sulfates on the tubes and potentially corrosive conditions within the unit.  The net effect is a lower acid dewpoint. We continue the sorbent traps vs. gaseous CEMS in our Mercury Reduction Decision Guide. Mass measurement of total and condensed particulate is another continuing theme.
