Monitoring Market Forecasts Integrated with Sales Promotion

Monitoring forecasts by product, industry and country should be the basis for tactical as well as strategic sales planning and execution. Too often forecasts are intermittent, inaccurate and not detailed.  However, the McIlvaine Air & Water Pollution Monitoring World Markets is continually updated and displays more than 50,000 forecasts. The integration of forecasting and sales tactics is described as "traffic control on the 4 Lane Knowledge Bridge to the End User."

The forecasts in the report are sufficient to develop targets for individual salesmen.  For example, you can select either water or air.  Let’s select water and look at the market in Poland.

If you need to be more granular, there are semi custom and custom reports. For example, one report is just on dissolved oxygen monitors. This report includes forecasts and market shares by D.O. type (chemical or optical). It also segments forecasts by precision (ppb or ppm).

McIlvaine attended or will be attending some of these conferences including Cement, Wind, Electric Power and Valve World.

At the cement conference, McIlvaine interviewed and took pictures of 56 stands.  One of the subjects was HCl monitors. Control Analytics is selling the NORS TDL. Cemtek is selling Unisearch TDL for NH3 and HF. These were two of the eight exhibitors who were primarily instrument aggregators. Sick is an aggregator and has its own TDL. A Trinity consultant’s analysis concluded that CEMS were available to meet the Cement NESHAP. The paper listed both sorbent traps and dilution extractive gas monitors for Mercury. For HCl both TDL and FTIR were generally considered successful. "TDL is often judged to be the furthest along in development and it is the most likely to be acceptable under developing EPA requirements. HCl CEMS requirements are in the early stages of development and they are likely to change significantly as more reliable information is made available. Compliance with current draft EPA performance specifications for HCl has not been able to be determined as issues with spiking, calibration and limitation of detection (LOD) remains a concern for all parties involved."  There are a number of prototype instruments presently being tested with the purpose of improving performance on low level HCl concentrations.
