Market for Cross-flow Membrane Resins, Adhesives, Fibers, Coatings and Binders to Exceed $2.9 Billion by 2021
The market for cross-flow membrane elements will exceed $2.9 billion in 2021. The element producers will spend $1,450 million for media, end caps, netting and adhesives. The media suppliers will spend $725 million for resins, fibers, coatings and adhesives. This is the latest forecast in Reverse Osmosis, UF, MF World Markets.
Cross-flow membranes are used to purify liquids in the chemical, mining, refining and oil and gas industries. They are also used to treat drinking water and municipal wastewater. Desalination is the largest single use. Membrane elements are found in spiral wound and hollow fiber configurations.

Instead of starting with resins and media production and analyzing the growth in each industry, RO it is desirable to start with the end users and determine their demand requirements in the future. McIlvaine is pursuing this approach in all its filtration market reports.

UTILITY E-ALERT
Utility E-Alert Tracks Billions of Dollars of New Coal-fired Power Plants on a Weekly Basis
Here are some Headlines from the Utility E-Alert
#1298 – November 11, 2016
Table of Contents
COAL – US

• FirstEnergy to sell or close Power Plants if Ohio and Pennsylvania do not return to Regulated Rates
• Indiana Utility outlines plan to shutter Coal Units and replace with Gas Generation

COAL – WORLD

• Dubai’s DEWA confirms start of Construction on 2,400 MW Clean Coal Power Plant
• Coal-fired Power Plant operates without License in Southern Vietnam
• AES Gener and GE modernize Thermal Power Plants in Chile
• GE retrofitting Croatian Coal-fired Power Plant
• Valmet to supply a Multifuel Power Boiler and Flue Gas Cleaning System to Japan
The 41F Utility E-Alert is issued weekly and covers the coal-fired projects, regulations and other information important to the suppliers. It is $950/yr. but is included in the $3020 42EI Utility Tracking System which has data on every plant and project plus networking directories and many other features.
Supplier and Utility Connect is a Game Changer
Any power plant in the world can have free access to 44I Power Plant Air Quality Decisions (Power Plant Decisions Orchard). This service is being renamed “Coal-fired Power Plant Decisions” to reflect its coverage of all combustion, flow and treat decisions. Valves, pumps, ultrapure water and wastewater are all included with case histories and white papers, webinars and 6 newsletters and Alerts. The service also includes a rapidly growing number of LinkedIn discussion groups which serve as the basis for the interconnection. Suppliers, who subscribe, have a unique opportunity to work directly with the purchasers and specifiers.
This interconnection is taken one step farther in 4S01 Berkshire Hathaway Energy Supplier and Utility Connect. BHE Energy generates 7 percent of the power and transmits 7 percent of the gas in the U.S. Details are provided on their water-related choices at each of their hundreds of plants. For example, relative to condensate polishing, they specify Cuno at one plant but have replaced the Cuno filters with more expensive Pall filters at another. We believe this new approach is a game changer. You can discuss this with Bob McIlvaine at 847 784 0012 ext. 112 or rmcilvaine@mcilvainecompany.com.
