Coal to Gas and Chemicals Is a Huge New Market for Filtration and Centrifugation
Nearly half a century ago U.S. filter supplied a drum filter for the direct liquefaction pilot plant in Wilsonville, AL. The concept was that just grinding, hydrogenating and filtering the slurry was a better route than Fischer Tropsch to make high quality fuels. Now, China has proven that this is true with large scale coal-to-liquids plants. They also plan to supply most of the gas for industrial and commercial uses in the big cities from coal gas piped in from the West and North. Forty projects are in planning and construction. These projects will use 1.6 billion tons of coal per year. The entire U.S. coal consumption is less than one billion tons. Filtration is the central process in direct liquefaction and is used in a number of processes in indirect gasification. Details are found in our Liquid Filtration and Sedimentation Market reports. Nearly every story about China’s extraordinary growth over the past 30 years asserts two things as a given:

Gross domestic product increased at an annualized rate of 6.7% in the January to March period from the previous quarter, the Cabinet Office said, revising its initial estimate of a 5.9% expansion. The result, adjusted for price changes, marked (The remaining text is not included in this sample.)

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has said the recent rebasing of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) will support its quest to be among the top 20 nations by 2020.
According to Emefiele, the exercise which placed the size of the Nigerian economy as first in Africa and 26th in the world would also afford the country a more positive sovereign rating by international rating agencies such as the Standard and Poor's, Fitch Ratings, (The remaining text is not included in this sample.)
Russia's gross domestic product growth forecast of 0.5% for 2014 may be revised upwards in September due to the slowing pace of a decline in investment, Economy Minister Alexei Ulyukayev said.
"For now our official (forecast) for this year is 0.5%, but most likely we will revise it in September, most likely upwards," Ulyukayev told journalists. (The remaining text is not included in this sample.)
