market is the world’s largest
China is buying filters and centrifuges at a record pace to dewater everything from municipal sewage sludge to synthetic gypsum made from desulfurization facilities in power plants. It is now the world’s largest purchaser of macrofiltration and separation equipment. In the synthetic gypsum segment, Chinese purchases will be greater than the U.S. and greater than all the rest of the world’s countries combined. China will need to install more than 100 belt filters per year to process the synthetic gypsum created in the process of capturing SO2 from power plants.
Big markets for dewatering equipment include the mining, chemical, power, and metals industries. All these markets are growing at rapid rates in China.
Krupp of Germany, Delkor of South Africa, and GL&V Eimco of Canada are the main suppliers of these gypsum belt filters in China. Andritz has made inroads into the belt filter press market. However, a number of Chinese based companies are supplying the majority of these filters. Local Chinese companies also dominate the clarifier market.
Alfa Laval, Westfalia, and Andritz have all been successful in penetrating the Chinese market for decanter centrifuges. Most granular media filter and filter presses are sold by domestic suppliers.
Several basket centrifuges are offered by Chinese licensees of European technology.
