Subject: valve opportunities in Florida and China

This month we identified nearly a hundred new sales opportunities for valves in Florida and China. You can view and print out all the details at:

We have been generating the project leads in the various industries and have been supplying them to the sales managers who are parceling them out to the salesmen.  But now we can send the leads directly to your salesmen in each state and country.

China

As you can see we have covered lots of new coal-fired plants.  We also reported on the 6500 MW of FGD scrubbers B&W has under contract just in the last year.  So, valves are not yet purchased for some of them.  4000 MW new nuclear plants are also identified.

China is leading the charge in refinery investment.  Over $120 billion in refinery investment will be needed in Asia in the next 30 years.

In the water/wastewater segment, Veolia Environment has a 50 year $10 billion contract to distribute water in Shenzhen and a $70 million contract to operate a wastewater treatment plant in Beijing.  GE has started up its new water treatment chemicals manufacturing facility in Wuxi.  Qingdao will be using seawater for toilet flushing.  This is made possible by a purification, disinfection, and biochemical treatment process.

Incineration is another growing segment.  Many new large waste incinerators will be built under the 10th Five-Year plan.  JFE Holdings of Japan is in a joint venture to build large incinerators in China.  Presently only plants less than 100 tpd are built in China.

We have provided both text and project database excerpts on the semiconductor projects in China.  Hynix is planning a chip plant in China.  It will be similar to the one in Eugene Oregon.  IDC and CH2M Hill are contracts on the 355,000 sq.ft.  Tianjin Zhong Huan Semiconductor plant which should start up this year.  China can not build plants fast enough to keep up with demand.  The chip market in China expanded 41 percent last year.

Japanese chemical manufacturers are building a number of plants in China.  Mitsui Chemicals is close to a final decision on a bisphenol manufacturing operation.  Tosoh Corp. will finalize a plan to make polyvinyl chloride resin.  The capacity would be 110,000 tons per year in a plant to be located on the outskirts of Guangzhou.  Cabot will build a fumed silica plant near Nanchang.

Pharmaceutical production in China was up 19 percent in 2003. Meiji Seika is establishing a joint venture to produce and distribute ethical and animal drugs.  Agilent is considering China for a life sciences research and manufacturing facility.  Shanghai pharmaceuticals is building an antibiotics plant in cooperation with Vietnam Pharmaceutical.

BlueScope is planning a $280 million flat steel coating and painting plant in Jiangsu Province.
