Power-Gen Networking In Four Areas with Water Decision Stops

McIlvaine has created and will update six route maps at Power-Gen up to and even throughout the show. These route maps will be easily accessed by mobile phone.  Phone numbers and e-mails are provided, so you can arrange meetings. We will also be introducing subjects for discussion.  There are lots of important developments in each of the areas. Four of these routes are important to those involve with water:

Power-Gen 2013 Will Aid in Your CCR and Effluent Guidelines Decisions

There are some good speeches on the coal residue wastewater cleanup.  The e-mails and phone numbers of speakers and panelists are provided.  There are a number of exhibitors at each decision stop.  It is estimated that the CCR alone will cost the utility industry $12 billion, so it is an important route.  There are at least five different ways to eliminate your ash ponds.  One is mix flyash with lime and your FGD sludge and provide a chemically fixed product.  URS is offering this technology.

Power-Gen 2013 Will Aid in Your MATS Decisions

Lots of speeches and lots of exhibits at the many decision tree stops on this route.   There is more focus on circulating dry scrubbers than on limestone wet FGD.  How times have changed.  If you are interested in the Chinese market, you may want to track down Joe Wang of Longking.  He was a speaker last year, but is roving this year.  Removal of mercury and other toxics from wastewater is actively addressed by speakers and exhibitors.

Power-Gen 2013 Will Aid in Your Pump Decisions

We have a matrix with exhibitors for many applications within Power.  The big FGD pumps are major purchases for utilities.  The boiler feedwater pumps are critical items and huge energy consumers.

Power-Gen 2013 Will Aid in Your Valve Decisions

There is a matrix with exhibitor stand listings for many power applications for valves.  We had hoped to also add live links to more specific application information for each exhibitor. We are encouraging the valve companies to provide this over the next few days. So keep checking the site even during the show.

Application Route Maps for Filtration 2013 to be updated for your mobile

At next week’s Filtration Conference at Navy Pier, McIlvaine will be executing a unique networking initiative.  It will involve continued access by mobile by visitors and is also linked to the social media system of the organizers.

McIlvaine Company has created a number of Global Decisions Positioning System™ (GDPS) Route Maps for the visitors to help them understand how the show can help them with solutions for four specific applications.

Fabric Filters for Coal Plants     Gas Turbine Air Intake Filters

HVAC Air Filtration                         Oil and Gas

The exhibitors involved gas turbine inlet air filters are shown along with some insights relative to the application. - Click Here

The exhibitors involved with oil and gas applications are shown along with some insights relative to the applications. - Click Here

We will be updating the list and adding insights on a continuing basis. We will also be adding e-mails and mobile numbers to encourage arranged meetings.

McIlvaine will also have a stand (Booth #224) and will assist in linking visitors with exhibitors who have answers for any of these applications.

More Than $10 Billion Committed Each Week for Oil, Gas and Refining Projects

A number of very large oil, gas and refining projects are initiated each week.  East Asia, North America and many regions of the world are benefiting from these very large investments. This is the conclusion reached by the McIlvaine Company in Oil, Gas, Shale and Refining Markets and Projects.  (www.mcilvainecompany.com)

Projects are tracked on a daily basis. Here are just some of the projects in a ten day period:

Some of the larger projects awarded in late October 2013:

East Timor Offers New Bid of $800 Mln for Onshore Gas Processing

Cumulative $800 million

FMC Awarded $340 Mln Contract for Ghana's TEN Project

Cumulative $1,140 million

Petrobras Awards $260 Mln Umbilicals, Flex Pipe Contract for Presalt Development Offshore Brazil

Cumulative $1,400 million

Jacobs Receives $200 Mln Contract from BP in Scotland

Cumulative $1,600 million

GE Signs $2.7 Bln in Gas Power Contracts in Algeria

Cumulative $4,300 million

Sembcorp Marine to Build $346 Mln Semi-Submersible Rig

Cumulative $4,646 million

Rolls-Royce Wins $175 Mln Contract to Power Kazakhstan-China Pipeline

Cumulative $4,821 million

BP Awards UK Companies over £1Bln in Contracts for Key West of Shetland Project

Cumulative $5,821 million

FMC Wins $650 Mln Contract with Petrobras for 16 Subsea Manifolds

Cumulative $6,471 million

FMC Technologies Receives $90 Mln Subsea Order for Statoil's Gullfaks Rimfaksdalen Project  (Order Dated: 10/15/2013)

Cumulative $6,561 million

Gazprom Awards Petrofac $95M Second Contract in Iraq  (Contract Dated: 10/14/2013)

Cumulative $6,656 million

L&T Wins $250 Mln EPC Contract from PDO Oman  (Contract Dated: 10/14/2013)

Cumulative $6,906 million

There are relatively few conventional on shore projects.  Non-conventional on shore deposits such as in shale will account for a large portion of the future U.S. production.  Substantial investment is continuing in tar sands. A number of large LNG plants are also underway. Several gas-to-liquids plants received recent funding.

Cleanroom Consumables Market to Exceed $7 Billion In 2014

The market for clothing, wipes and other consumables used in cleanrooms will grow this year to more than $7 billion.  This is the conclusion reached by McIlvaine Company in World Cleanroom Market.  (www.mcilvainecompany.com)

There has been a decade old debate regarding the choice between reusable and disposable clothing.  The aggregate expenditure of over $2 billion for reusable clothing plus the laundering of this clothing is considerably more than the investment in disposable clothing.

Arguments in favor of the reusables are greater comfort, high quality and impact on the environment. These garments are typically rented rather than purchased.  The garment launder may also supply other consumables. This potentially eliminates multiple sourcing.

Arguments in favor of the single-use garments are consistency and avoidance of water pollution. When a garment is manufactured in a carefully controlled environment and then packaged in an air tight container prior to shipment to the cleanroom, there is an assurance of consistency.  Suppliers argue that with reusables, the operator is at the mercy of the launderer. The environmental argument is that the greenhouse gas generation by manufacturing of many disposables is more than offset by the potential water pollution from garments which may contain harmful contaminants.

Recent studies on garment quality versus particulate loading in the cleanroom show that motion is a bigger factor than had been previously considered.  Those rooms with more motion but equal quality hardware and consumables will show higher particulate levels than those with less motion.

Historically, the semiconductor industry embraced reusables whereas the pharmaceutical industry utilized single-use garments.  There was concern that pathogens might not be removed in the laundering process.  In recent years, this trend has shifted.  Many pharmaceutical plants now use reusable garments.
