U.S. Housing Starts and Permits Up in May
Housing starts increased 17.2 percent in May versus April to an annualized rate
of 532,000 units. Building permits, meanwhile, rose 4.0 percent to an annualized
rate of 518,000.
The starts data for May was aided by a 77 percent increase in starts on
multi-unit dwellings, which followed a 46 percent decline in

Canadian Housing Starts Increase in May
The seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts increased to 128,400 units
in May from 117,600 units in April, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing
Corporation (CMHC).
"The increase in May is broadly based, encompassing both the singles and
multiples segments," said Bob Dugan, Chief Economist at CMHC's Market Analysis
Centre.
Housing starts are expected to improve throughout 2009 and over the next several
years

Donaldson Quarterly Profit Falls, Cuts 2009 Profit Outlook
Donaldson Co. Inc. posted a 42 percent drop in quarterly profit and cut its 2009
profit outlook, citing persistent weakness in its end markets. Revenue fell 30
percent to $413.4 million.
For the third quarter ended April 30, net income was $26.6 million, or 34 cents
a share, down from $46.0 million, or 57 cents a share, a year ago. Net income
includes restructuring charges of 6 cents a share, the company
said
Donaldson's Industrial Filtration Solutions' sales are projected to decrease 13
to 18 percent. While they anticipate full year unit volume to be flat in the Gas
Turbine Products business, the company forecasts full year gas turbine filter
sales to decrease 2 to 5 percent due to the impact of foreign currency
translation

Camfil Farr Full Year 2008 Sales Increase 6 percent
Camfil Farr's 2008 Annual Report states good overall performance for 2008, with
higher sales and earnings. Group sales grew 6 percent in 2008 to SEK 4,361 M, of
which 5 percent was organic and 1 percent related to acquisitions. Growth in
fixed currencies was 5 percent. Operating profit was SEK 400 M in 2008. Europe
was the most profitable region.
Demand was strong in the first three quarters but slowed in the fourth as the
global financial crisis started to impact some segments and markets
Clarcor Inc. Reports Second Quarter 2009 Financial Results
Clarcor's second quarter sales were $229.4 million, down 14.1 percent from the
second quarter 2008. Operating margins in the second quarter of 2009 were 11.0
percent compared to 6.4 percent in the first quarter of 2009

Pall Sales and Earnings for the Third Quarter and Nine Months Ended April 30,
2009
Sales for the nine months were approximately $1.7 billion, a decrease of 3.3
percent in local currency (LC), and 9.3 percent including the impact of foreign
currency translation, from a year earlier. Net earnings were $126.1 million,
compared to $147.4 million in the period last year

Ahlstrom has started temporary layoffs at its glassfiber plant in Karhula,
Finland to adapt the production volumes of specialty reinforcements and
glassfiber tissue to match the demand.
The production reductions and cost saving efforts are estimated to result in
temporary layoffs for approximately 150 persons at the Karhula
plant
