US Housing Starts Fall 10.8 percent in March

New US residential building fell by 10.8 percent in March, after a surprise surge the month before. Starts were at an adjusted annual rate of construction of 510,000, commerce department figures showed. The decline was due to a big drop in construction of multi-family homes. Canadian Housing Starts Jump in March

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation said starts increased in March by 13.7 percent, or 154,700 new units when one-month figures are stretched over a full year………………….

Clarcor Reports First Quarter 2009 Results

Clarcor reported results for the first quarter ended February 28, 2009. Sales in the first quarter of 2009 dropped by $36 million, a 15 percent decrease compared to the first quarter of 2008. Operating profit decreased by 51 percent compared to the same quarter in 2008………………

 

Norm Johnson, CLARCOR's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, “…We expect that operating profit in some markets, such as for HVAC air filters, will be significantly improved compared to 2008…”

 

Flanders 2008 Financial Results/ 2009 Outlook

Flanders Corp. reported financial results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2008. President and CEO, Harry Smith, said, “…2008 revenue was $217.3 million, compared to $244.9 million in 2007, reflecting disposition of direct sales offices, decreases in retail orders, and reduced capital…”

2009 Outlook:  Flanders expects total revenue for 2009 to be between $235 million and $246 million representing growth of 8 percent to 13 percent from 2008………………………

 

PGI Reports 2008 4Q and Fiscal Year Sales

PGI reported results of operations for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended January 3, 2009. During the year, PGI achieved record sales of $1.15 billion, up 8.1 percent over the prior year and marking the sixth consecutive year of revenue growth.
