China Is Forging Ahead With Desal Plants

With 20 percent of the world’s population and only 7 percent of the world’s fresh water, China is the largest desalination market. In terms of existing capacity, China has moved to fifth place but will be gaining rankings with the Tangshan plant which will cost over $1 billion.  An equal amount will be spent to build a pipeline from the seacoast to Beijing.  China is on track to desalinate 807 mgd by 2020.
