UF/MF wastewater forecast
Sales of membrane bioreactors are growing at double-digit rates. There has been a boom in membrane filtration of drinking water around the world. McIlvaine is not only forecasting revenues in membrane areas, but also the flow in million gallons per day for both municipal water and wastewater applications, in each of 80 countries and sub regions. Canada will be using membrane bioreactors or other UF/MF treatment on over five percent of the sewage waste and totaling over 203 MGD by 2005. In the U.S. the increase in membrane wastewater filtration will be over 300 MGD next year.

Reference Document: In July 2002, after evaluating extensive proposals from five membrane system manufacturers, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission in Ontario, Canada awarded USFilter a US$1.7 million contract to provide the first microfiltration plant to treat water from Lake Erie CONTINUOUS MICROFILTRATION (CMF) The Memcor CMF system will provide six million gallons of water per day to over 10,000 residents in the Ontario area. The new South Chatham-Kent Water Treatment Plant will service the area of south Chatham-Kent including the communities of Blenhiem and Erie Beach.
