Fluid/Gas Treatment and Control Market to Grow to $403 Billion in 2017
The market for equipment, services and chemicals used in treating and
controlling liquids, indoor air, stack gases and process fluids will grow from
$381 billion in 2012 to $403 billion in 2017. This is the latest forecast in the
McIlvaine online report: Fluid/Gas Treatment and Control Markets (www.mcilvainecompany.com).
The market will grow at the rate of GDP plus 2 percent, so while GDP in NAFTA
will be just under 3 percent per annum, the
growth in the fluid/gas market will be close to 5 percent.

bulk of the revenue increases. This is due to the construction of power, water,
wastewater and other basic industrial plants.

Carbon Has New Activated Carbon Product
Calgon Carbon Corporation has launched an advanced FLUEPAC® line of
products to control an increasing environmental concern, mercury emissions in
the coal-fired electric power generation market. These products have the ability
to reduce carbon injection rates by 50 to 70 percent below that of standard
products, while exceeding the mercury removal requirements recently established
by the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Mercury and Air Toxics Standards
(MATS).
The most versatile and advanced of the products, FLUEPAC® ST is
designed to greatly reduce the negative impact of sulfur trioxide (SO3)
on standard carbon performance. FLUEPAC® ST can deliver 90 percent
mercury capture in SO3 concentrations up to 15 parts per million
(ppm) at injection rates less than 10 pounds per million actual cubic feet of
flue gas (lbs/MMACF).
Additional benefits of the advanced FLUEPAC® line include a decrease
in the particulate load on electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) and baghouses,
which minimizes the risk of exceeding particulate emission limits, and a
reduction in the amount of activated carbon in the fly ash, which increases its
potential value for use in concrete production and reduces ash disposal costs.

Eco Power Will Talk About Ozone Generators to Reduce NOx at EUEC
The Eco Power concept is to use ozone generators to convert NOx to
soluble NO2. A condensing heat exchanger and some sprays provide the
liquid to absorb the NO2. The recovered heat can be used any place
where you need to heat something to less than 150oF. So power
plants should consider co-locating plants that can use low pressure steam. Here
is one option:
Why Not Raise Fish at Power Plants Around the World?
Low pressure steam from power plants can be used to control the temperature of
water at a new kind of fish farm. Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) are
used to raise fish in a very compact space. With temperature, contaminant and
oxygen control, these tanks far outperform ponds. One combined cycle power
plant is already supplying steam for this purpose. So, with this as an example,
let us cogitate on how this concept can be leveraged.
The world’s wild fish production is plummeting. Ponds, pens and RAS are
becoming the main sources of fish. RAS is presently a small portion of the
total. With low cost energy, RAS could be a big winner. The market
potential is there. What are the negatives?
The biggest negative could be space. But there are innovative potential ways
around this. A few years ago Kiewit introduced an entire FGD system in a
concrete grain silo. This silo housed a very large FGD system with tanks and
fans. The silo was 80 ft in diameter and 400 ft high, so why not take this
concept and build stacked tanks 400 ft high.
There is no easier way to reduce greenhouse gases than to utilize the heat going
out with the cooling tower steam plume. Thus, this should be an option which
receives serious attention.

installation process.

aesthetics, and wire management, Zep Solar offers a comprehensive platform for
PV system installation. In addition to partnering with high quality PV
manufacturers like Hanwha SolarOne, Zep Solar also partners with balance of
system manufacturers to offer customers a wide range of product options
including module-level electronics that connect directly to the Zep Groove.

To reduce installation time and number of components, Simrit debuted a
theft-proof solar retaining clip for use with frameless photovoltaic thin-film,
modules. The innovative design provides for faster and easier assembly, while
also reducing damage typically incurred by movement, installation or
environmental conditions.
The state-of-the-art structure ensures homogeneous surface pressure, combined
with tolerance-compensating silicone layers, to reduce module damage caused by
movement. This results in an overall balance of systems (BOS) cost reduction due
to the longer service life of the frame, as well as reduced warranty costs and
labor savings.
Simrit’s new solar retaining clip requires no mounting hardware and only two
essential parts, providing a noteworthy advantage over standard market solutions
that require six parts. The ergonomic solution includes a bolt-free fastening
clamp that is attached to an aluminum profile to help prevent theft, a typical
challenge with solar panel installations. Additionally, the solution offers fast
“two-hand” assembly, is compatible with industry standards and certifications,
and doesn’t require electrical grounding.

Unirac, Inc., a provider of infrastructure for solar power systems, announced
the newest generation of its premier product for commercial installations, the
ISYS Ground Mount racking system. ISYS Ground Mount (IGM) 2.0 is stronger,
lighter and installs more quickly than its predecessor. Engineered to
accommodate virtually every foundation option, IGM 2.0 easily adapts to any
project site by allowing customers to select the most cost-effective foundation
system for their specific project site.
This improved version of IGM is constructed of roll formed C-channel beams
rather than the roll formed and toggle-locked I-beams used for the earlier
version of IGM. This design cuts down on material use while maintaining the same
structural integrity for which Unirac is justly renowned. Manufacturing time is
slashed by as much as 50 percent through the use of C-channel beams, drastically
reducing project ramp-up time. The new beams can also be stacked interlocked,
saving valuable space and allowing more beams to be transported on fewer trucks.
On a typical 1 MW project, the shipping weight of the new IGM rails can be
reduced by as much as 14 percent over the earlier design.
The Unirac ISYS Ground Mount 2.0 allows for the pre-assembly of module columns
prior to installation, or parallel installation of foundations and racking
simultaneously. Contractors can build the subassembly or grade land while
assembling all modules to Unirac’s rails in controlled environments. These
options offer a shorter project turnaround time and reduce field labor, saving
customers money and allowing for faster return on investment.

AMtec Solar announced the release of their new line of Solar Combiner Boxes with
Disconnecting DC Contactor and their exclusive Remote Solar Combiner Disconnect
Control Panel. This new combination gives service and emergency personnel
push-button control to open or close string level outputs at either the combiner
box or up to 1,500 feet away at the control panel which may be placed in the
building’s utility room. The ability to disconnect the solar combiner boxes from
a distant location adds a previously unavailable level of safety for emergency
responders.
