2010 InterWEBview with Meghan Henigin, Spike Verbeek, Ross Glendinning and Noreen Comerford

InterWEBview™ Summary:  The ALDEC G3 is built around the Slimline design – a breakthrough in decanter centrifuge performance and capabilities. The smaller conveyor diameter makes room for more liquid in the pond, and allows higher bowl wall pressures, resulting in either drier cake or using less polymer.

Patented Alfa Laval Power Plates also effectively reduce the power consumption of ALDEC G3 decanter centrifuges, making a big contribution to cost savings. The supply on a skid cuts erection costs and insures system integration.

Product Information:

Alfa Laval’s efficient solutions for reducing the volume of wastewater help to decrease disposal costs significantly. We deal with all kinds of sludge, from simple natural sedimentation, secondary biological treatment or advanced chemical treatment.

  • Municipal waste. We are involved in the processing of sludge from the public sector from at least 200 million people.

  • Industrial waste. Our solutions are used in more than 1,000 industrial applications.

  • Water at water works. Our systems help produce nearly 400 million gallons of potable water every day.

ALDRUM – Thicker sludge is better

The ALDRUM drum thickener is a range of mechanical sludge thickeners and works on the principle of conveying polyelectrolyte treated sludge through a slowly rotating drum filter. The sludge remains in the drum, while the water phase passes through the filter cloth. Sludge concentration can be regulated by adjusting the feed rate, angle and speed of the drum.

ALSHE – Preheating, heating and cooling of industrial and municipal waste water

The Alfa Laval Spiral Heat Exchanger is intended for sludge applications in which heat is interchanged between sludge flows. It consists of a spiral – wound from sheets of metal strips – that form two concentric spiral flow passages. The channels are alternately welded on opposite ends to form a hot and cold channel. The hot channel is then closed while the sludge channel is accessible for cleaning.

G2 Decanters – More sludge treated, more efficiently

Alfa Laval’s complete range of G2 decanter centrifuges feature a compact, modular design with all critical parts made of wear-resistant materials. The result is reliable, continuous operation and easy, trouble-free process control. Compared to previous generations of equipment, the G2 decanters provide 2 – 3% drier sludge cake or as much as 30% greater capacity.

ALSYS skid mounted units – Plug-and-play dewatering modules

Based on the ALDEC decanter centrifuges, the ALSYS is a dewatering module used for reducing sludge volumes. Its plug-and-play design allows for rapid, easy installation on-site and the unit’s compact layout reduces space requirements and ensures easy maintenance.
