Sample Projects
Project Title: Shanghai Wind
location: Shanghai, China
startup date: 2005
size: 21 MW
project type: Wind
descriptions: This is the first of two utility-scale wind projects to be built in Shanghai. It wil consist of 14 1.5 MW turbines.
Contractors:
GE Energy Wind Turbines
Shanghai Power Industrial & Commercial - Owner
Shanghai Wind Power Co. - Constructor
Project Title: Victorville Project
location: Victorville, CA
startup date: 2011
size: 500 MW
project type: Solar, Stirling Dish Technology
descriptions: Southern California Edison has signed a 20 year power purchase agreement. The agreement included the option to expand the project to 850 MW. Stirling dish technology converts thermal energy to electricity by using a mirror array to focus the sun's rays on the receiver end of a Stirling engine. The internal side of the receiver then heats hydrogen gas, which expands and causes the pressure to drive a piston, crank shaft and drive shaft assembly similar to internal combusiton engines. The entire conversion process takes place within a canister the size of an oil barrel, and requires no water and is emission free.
Contractors:
Sothern California Edison - Power Purchaser
Stirling Energy Systems - Developer
Project Title: UPM's Rauma Paper Mill
location: west coast, Finland
startup date: 2006
size: 107 MW
project type: Biomass
descriptions: The plant will burn bark, forest residue, peat, sludge and a small amount of recycled fuel in a bubbling fluidized bed boiler.
Contractors:
Kvaerner Power - boiler
