Several heat exchanger options are available. Natural gas pre-heaters can
capture heat from the exhaust of a gas turbine and transfer it to the incoming
natural gas fuel. Efficiency improvements of 0.5 percent are achievable.

The Lungstrom air heater design provides economy and efficiency
which is hard to beat. Air leakage can be reduced to five percent or less.
Additional units with enameled surfaces are used for cooling at the scrubber
inlet and reheat of flue gases after the scrubber. Axial fans are becoming a
more popular choice than centrifugal fans not only in Europe but in the U.S. as
well.
