U.S. Industrial Emitters
There are 30,000 sources in the U.S. with emissions that qualify them as major emitters. In addition, there is a much larger inventory of smaller emitters. It would be nice if there was one comprehensive database with all the needed information on each source. But, there is not.
However, a number of individual databases extracted from EPA and prepared by McIlvaine provide good coverage of the most important sources and at least identify the smaller sources.
Industrial Boilers
This database has comprehensive information
on the industrial boilers operating in the U.S. as of 1999.
U.S. NOx Emitters
This database identifies each source of NOx
in the U.S. whose emissions are more that 100 tons/yr as of 2000.
Industrial Emitters 1985
This is the ideal database. EPA spent many millions
of dollars to identify each stack and each process in each plant. The only
problem is that the data is 19 years old. However, when it comes to refineries,
petrochemical plants, and many other basic industries, the plants and the
equipment are mostly the same now as they were in 1985. You can use this
database in conjunction with the others to search by industry type. You can
also use it to identify the inventory of any type of emission control equipment
installed at that time. You can also search by SCC or equipment type. So you
can search just for arc furnaces.
Houston/Beaumont Sales Leads
This database identifies opportunities in
the Houston/Beaumont non-attainment area as of 2002. This includes contacts and
emails gathered by McIlvaine.
Directory of Waste to Energy Plants
This is a listing of U.S. waste to energy
plants prepared in 2002 by the Integrated Waste Services Association.
