Corning has developed a carbon extruded
honeycomb with imbedded catalyst for mercury capture which does
not contaminate the flyash and can be installed after the dust
collection device. It will achieve 90 percent removal.
Catalyst life is targeted for 12 months. The 2008 target is to
complete a 1-MW field demonstration.

Neural network combustion optimization is
combined with model predictive control with the acquisition of
Pegasus. At Limestone, NeuCo installed a system with coal analysis, coal flow sensors,

partnered to provide the conveyance systems. AES
Somerset just started up one system. Several systems are in the
design phase. The blue SO3 plume at Somerset has
been eliminated with sorbent injection. By milling Trona to
smaller particle size the quantity can be reduced.
