BioCoal is a pelletized biomass fuel. Wood is processed in a proprietary manner to change the chemistry and structure of the wood into a friable material that is high in carbon content. BioCoal is resistant to water absorption and can be stored for many years without decay.
John Paoluccio of Paoluccio Consulting explained the advantages of torrefaction. It processes wood and other energy crops and results in pellets with a 10,000 Btu/lb fuel value. This high density overcomes the transportation problem of untreated biomass. Renewafuel provides coal-sized renewable energy cubes. Renewafuel’s products are a proprietary blend of renewable feedstock from local farms and businesses including wood, sawdust, corn stover, straw, paper, grasses, grains, and grain and seed hulls and screenings. Processing and compaction results in products that are consistent in size, heat value, moisture content, ash content and other key fuel characteristics. Products are more easily transported, stored and used than raw biofuels. |
