Universal Continuing Decision Process For: Siemens *

The entrained-flow Siemens Fuel Gasifier (SFG™) is able to convert a large range of fuels and is ideally suited for biomass or lower-rank fuels like lignite. Syngas is cleaned in a venturi scrubber in contrast to the Conoco use of a high temperature ceramic filter. Harry Morehead charted the Siemens history with gasification starting with the Schwarze Pumpe 200-MW unit which began operating in the German state of Brandenburg in 1984. The plant was originally used for the gasification of brown coal and is now used for converting industrial waste into methanol. Projects under development include Summit Power (600-MW IGCC) near Odessa, Texas, and Sherritt/EPCOR lignite-to-hydrogen (380-MW IGCC) in Genessee, Alberta scheduled for 2015.
