The MHI gasifier operates in slagging conditions and, like the E-Gas process, injects coal without oxidant in the second stage. However, the gasifier features a water-cooled membrane wall rather than refractory lining and uses dry feed of coal rather than a coal-water slurry. MHI developed a two-stage, air-blown gasifier that has been used in a demonstration plant at the 250-MW CCP Nakoso IGCC Plant near Iwaki City in Japan since 2007. |
