ABSTRACT: SkyMine® Process Commercialization The SkyMine® process relies on well-understood chemical reactions and unit operations to capture and mineralize CO2 at a competitive energy penalty. The process includes the production of marketable chemicals such as hydrogen, chlorine, hydrochloric acid and sodium bicarbonate. The process also prevents the release of the acid gases associated with the burning of coal, regulated heavy metals [e.g. mercury], and other not yet regulated heavy metals [e.g. selenium, chromium]. The combination of remediating CO2, acid gases, and metals and selling industrial chemicals yields an all-in-one cost effective, profitable solution. Skyonic was recently awarded a Phase II, DOE grant in the beneficial reuse of CO2 category and is working to build a 75,000 MT CO2 /yr capture facility at a cement plant in San Antonio, Texas. The progress of this project will be reviewed in this presentation.
