Low-Flow Gear Pumps for Lubrication Systems Power generation is critically dependent upon the reliable lubrication rotating equipment within the plant. This rotating equipment includes: • The primary steam turbine and generator, plus smaller steam turbines for operation of systen pumps • Ancillary equipment including: o Coal conveyors & pulverizers o Limestone ball mills o Fans for flue gas o Load-tap changers for transformers o Other miscellaneous systems Each of these systems requires a reliable supply of filtered lubricant to protect equipment bearings, and to remove heat and contaminants (such as water) from the oil. These lubrication systems typically include pumps, filters, reservoirs, piping and valves. The systems may be an integral part of the equipment, or part of a separate skid-mounted system provided by OEMs specializing in oil filtration. The pumps used in these applications are often gear type pumps with low flow rates on the order of 20 gpm or lower. Suppliers of pumps for these systems include Allweiler, Colfax, Imo, IDEX, Roper, Tuthill, Tushaco, Seemsan, Shanghai Huanggong, SPX Johnson, Verder, and others. Oil filtration OEMs include Kaydon, Velcon, Oil Filtration, Hilliard, Elliot, and others.
