Peter Spinney will discuss the value that real-time, integrated boiler optimization systems, which encompass combustion and sootblowing processes, are providing in terms of improved efficiency, emissions, capacity and availability. He will also demonstrate how optimization systems are being extended beyond the boiler to manage unit-wide thermal efficiency and equipment health. Combining neural network, model predictive control, rules-based, and other technical methods, these modern optimization systems are supporting the increasingly complex and inter-related decision-making environment in which fossil-fired power plant personnel now reside.
