Mr. Wakefield has over 35 years in various sales, marketing and management positions in companies related to the electric utility industry. In 1993, he founded Econo-Power International Corporation and subsequently directed the activities of the company into its focus on coal gasification systems for power generation and cogeneration. He is EPIC’s president and chairman of the board of directors. Peabody Energy (NYSE – BTU) currently owns approximately 25% of EPIC’s stock and assists EPIC in strategic issues relative to coal supply for a wide variety of US and international projects. In 1983, he founded Wakefield Associates, Inc. which served as a manufacturer’s representative in the Texas and Oklahoma area.
A 1967 graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Management, he also received his MBA from Bellarmine College in 1982. He served as a naval aviator and a flight instructor in the US Naval Air Training Command. |
