The Skyonic SkyMine™ process relies on well-understood chemical reactions and unit operations to capture and mineralize CO2 as sodium bicarbonate. The process also prevents the release of the acid gases associated with the burning of coal, regulated heavy metals [e.g. mercury], and other not yet regulated heavy metals [e.g. selenium, chromium]. The process includes the production of marketable chemicals such as hydrogen, and chlorine. A SkyMine™ demonstration plant has been operating at the Big Brown Steam Electric Station for almost two years and results from this facility will be reviewed. |
