EPA’s final cleanup plan for the Gowanus Canal Superfund Site in New York City provides for dredging of accumulated sediments, capping, off-site thermal treatment of dredged NAPL-contaminated sediments; in-situ stabilization of native sediments contaminated with high levels of NAPL, excavation and restoration of a portion of the site, stabilization of sediments not contaminated by NAPL and their re-use off-site. Included are estimated capital costs; treatment and disposal costs; annual operation, maintenance and monitoring costs and present-worth cost.
