The 61st Annual Meeting of the Society for Industrial Microbiology (SIM) is to be held on July 24-28, 2011 at the Sheraton New Orleans, New Orleans, LA. The theme for 2011 is “Emerging Frontiers in Industrial Microbiology.” This conference, which typically draws an audience of over 700 attendees, is an opportunity to present your work and meet with members of the SIM and other colleagues from academia, industry, and government organizations. The conference also represents an excellent venue for student presentations and provides a wide range of networking opportunities. The 2011 program will focus on a range of exciting topics from synthetic and systems biology to metagenomics, extremophiles, and nanotechnology. These topics represent new frontiers in the areas of biocatalysis, metabolic engineering, fermentation & cell culture, natural products, and environmental microbiology and will be covered throughout the meeting in 35-40 sessions and several workshops. The conference will feature leading experts in these and other emerging areas of industrial microbiology.
