Electricite Du Laos owns and operates generation, transmission, and distribution assets in Laos. It also manages electricity imports into its grids and exports from its stations. EDL is the major generator in Laos with a capacity pegged at 2400 MW by 2020. There is also export demand for the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Total Laos capacity as of 2016 was hydro at 4508 MW, coal at 18876 MW and biomass at 25 MW. 65% of energy is exported.
