Here is the abstract and link to the full text. An improved SO2 scrubber design utilizes rows of rods in parallel to form venturi type orifices. The turbulence increases droplet surface area and greatly improves capture efficiency not only of SO2 but particulate. Flow rates for a given SO2 efficiency can be reduced greatly. The penalty in increased fan horsepower is offset by reduction in pump horsepower. The size of the pumps can be substantially reduced. In the case of pump suppliers such as Andritz this is positive rather than negative. With the open spray tower design individual pmp size exceeds 50,000 gpm. This is beyond the slurry pump capability of most suppliers other than Weir, KSB, and Duchting. Click Here For Complete Abstract Text
