Prof. Dr. Horst Weissseiker is representing the program Committee for the Cleanroom Technology conference in Nurtingen in October 2011. He recently won a VID award for his contribution to international cleanroom standardization.. His biography and picture are included in the link The Association of German Engineers (Verein Deutscher Ingenieure, VDI) has awarded its plaque of honor to Dr Horst Weißsieker, Managing Director of TÜV SÜD Cleancert GmbH for his contribution to national and international cleanroom standardization. • Horst Weißsieker studied physics at the university of Göttingen and the Technical University Berlin • (West). He got his Diplom-Physiker on epitaxial growth of material on surfaces in 1986 and his PHD • on aerosol physics and contamination control in 2007 at the Politechnical University Bucharest. • Since 1984 he worked in different areas of contamination control technologies for different • companies. • Currently he is employed by TUEV SUED Cleancert GmbH in Cologne as the managing director. • He is the deputy chairman of the VDI 2083 contamination control guidelines, chairman of VDI 2083 • part 11 “Quality Assurance in Cleanrooms”, chairman for the VDI 2083 part 16 “Separative Devices” • and a member of several national and international guideline committees, for example the ISO 14644 • “Contamination Control” and COD of the ICCCS. He is member of VDI, IEST, DPG and GAeF. He • published more than 30 articles in journals and books on the different areas of specialization. He • holds several patents in the area of contamination control, for example specific SMIF boxes.
