Yokogawa Supplies Remote Monitoring and Control for Shale Gas:
Yokogawa has a range of
systems and instruments for oil and gas shale production
Monitoring underground temperatures is critical in extraction of oil from
shale. Due to the depletion of conventional oil and gas reserves, considerable
attention is being devoted to the development of unconventional oil and gas
resources. When heavy oil is extracted from oil sands by using steam or some
other means, it is necessary to monitor the underground temperature to ensure
efficient collection. Yokogawa’s DTSX200 optical fiber sensor can monitor
temperature changes in underground oil sand and oil shale formations. It
features a low power design and is well suited for use in harsh environments.
Remote monitoring is accomplished with Yokogawa’s remote wellhead monitoring and
control solutions employ web servers, network connectivity, email, and software
upgradability to substantially reduce cost of ownership.
