New Carlisle, IN, Power Plant may still be built

A long-proposed natural gas-fired power plant in New Carlisle, IN, may be on its way to construction. St. Joseph County Commissioners approved a supplemental agreement at a recent  meeting to allow for engineering services to look at infrastructure in the area of the project. County Engineer Jessica Clark said the county will look into options for providing increased water treatment and handling for the industrial area — possibly creating a water treatment facility there. The natural gas-fired power plant, currently being developed by Development Partners Group LLC, would have high water demands — a figure that has increased in recent weeks, she said. Clark said, “The developers recently looked at new processes, and they’re looking at another process that would need 15 million gallons of water a day, but would be more efficient in other ways.”
