Eastern Power Has Completed Environmental Review of Area Around Lambton Power Plant for New 300 MW Power Plant with Cooling Tower and HRSG

Eastern Power Limited has taken another step on the road to building a $360-million natural gas-fired power plant in St. Clair Township, Ontario, Canada. The company said this week it had completed an environmental review of the 300 MW project the Ontario government moved from Mississauga. Eastern Power is looking at two sites on Oil Springs Line, including one on the Lambton Generating Station property. The second is just a short distance to the east. “We’re still evaluating both sites and doing due diligence on them and haven’t chosen one or the other,” Eastern Power VP Hubert Vogt said. Following the 30-day comment period for the environmental review, the company’s next step will be to apply for building permits and others required for the project, he said. “We’re still hoping to be able to start construction in the spring.”

The system will include a cooling tower. Hubert Vogt V.P. and Bruce Holbein Environmental manager  signed the followng report. they can be reached at 416-234-1301

Water will taken from Clay Creek ( Appendix p. 2)

Water for process cooling will be supplied from the Lambton Area Water Supply system. Cooling process wastewater will either be discharged for treatment in the municipal wastewater facility to the North in Courtright or be treated on the project site and discharged to environment

Boiler make up water will use reverse osmosis, softener and electrodeionization which will eliminate the need for sulfuric acid or caustic  p 47
