The new coal-fired power station in the
state of Gujarat will include five units with a capacity of 800 MW each. The
first two boiler feed pump sets are to start operation in Unit 1 from
November 2009. Further units will be equipped with KSB pumps in a second
stage.
The boiler feed pumps for the Mundra power station are manufactured at the
KSB Frankenthal factory. New production and testing facilities capable of
accommodating such huge power station pumps are currently being built there
for € 40 million. The condensate pumps are to be supplied by KSB's Indian
factory in Pune.
The new power station in Mundra is one step in a set of measures planned by
the Indian government to secure the country’s power supply. India's current
capacity totals over 141 gigawatts. This capacity is to be increased by a
further 78 gigawatts within the next five years.
