15th Sulfur Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxide, Mercury and Fine Particle Pollution Control Technology & Management International Conference
The 15th Sulfur Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxide, Mercury and Fine Particle Pollution Control Technology & Management International Conference was held from April 27 to April 28, 2011 in Beijing. This conference main focuses were the emissions control policies of the National 12th 5-Year Plan, NOx control policy and technology, mercury (Hg) control technology, PM2.5 control technology and NH3 monitoring technology and equipment.
The new power plant emissions control standards were discussed, which will be the strictest standards in the world. The standard for NOx emissions will be lower than 200 mg/m3 and 100 mg/m3 in Chinese industrial areas. The PM2.5 emissions standard will be lower than 30 mg/m3 and 20 mg/m3 in Chinese industrial areas. The air emissions of six industries; power, steel, non-ferrous metals, petroleum, chemical and cement; will be the focus in the next five years. Mercury control technologies have gotten more attention. However, until possibly 2013, there will not be a mandatory standard for Hg emissions in China.
The most attention in the conference was given to NOx control. China will have the most NOx control of any country in the world. Improved boiler combustion technology and SCR will be the best choices for NOx reduction. Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler technology is also a choice as CFB boilers produce less NOx. Monitoring technology and equipment for the low concentrations of ammonia slip from SCRs were discussed. Some papers gave new solutions.
A total of 25 reports were given at the conference and more than 200 people attended. Following are key notes from each report:
