Need To Communicate With China on Précis

China is installing SCR and tightening up its particulate limits.  The result is that the country is struggling to find the right technologies.  The SCR generates more SO₃ which should improve precip efficiency.  But it also results in air heater plugging and corrosion. Furthermore, there is often a blue plume of fine particles escaping the precip.

The Chinese could greatly benefit from all the solutions with which the U.S. struggled in the 1990s.  We had a very informative webinar on improving precipitator efficiency last Thursday, October 3.  It is available to subscribers to POWER PLANT AIR QUALITY DECISIONS.
